This image emerged toward the end of a semester-long course in the clinical practice of dreamwork. Through daily engagement with my dreams and creative responses to my dreams, the material that the dreaming process presented seemed to move into a very different space. The dream images themselves, amplified through association and play, became touchstones for retelling, re-visioning, and remembering myself. This piece was created out of sitting with and dialoguing with a powerful feminine figure who challenged me, in the dream, to make room for her presence in my life. For the first in my exploration of expressive arts, I experienced the artwork as less consciously directed and more, in some sense, received. I could sit in relationship to it and draw strength from its (her) gift.
