Expressive Arts Gallery

Expressive Arts Gallery

The expressive arts gallery is a rotating gallery that changes each year, coordinated by the current members of Orchesis, App State's Expressive Arts club. Visitors can see the gallery displayed on the 2nd floor of the Reich College of Education Building - just outside the elevators.

The theme of the 2025 gallery installation is:

Nature Connects Us

The past year has gently pulled many of us back to something ancient and authentic -- our deep-rooted connection with the natural world. Nature holds us without asking, offering stillness, wonder, and a quiet reminder that we are a part of a much larger, living tapestry. In a time when it's all too easy to feel scattered or adrift, it is through creativity that we find our way home -- to each other, to the earth, to ourselves.

"The world is not
Falling apart.
In the presence
Of the quivering stars
Our deepest impulse
Is to dance"
-- Sally Atkins, Chaos Theory

The art you see here is born from remembering -- an exploration of our ties to nature through the hearts and hands of undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, and friends of the Department of Counseling, Family Therapy and Higher Education, and the Social Work and Music Therapy programs.

Mediums: Oil and chalk pastels, acrylic and watercolor paints, collage, and mixed media.
