Mission
Orchesis Alliance is a student organization designed to bring together a therapeutic expressive arts community. This alliance gives students of various therapeutic fields the opportunity to learn about therapeutic expressive arts practices through experiential participation. It strives to provide students with a space for meaningful, authentic expression. Through participation in events at Appalachian State University and the greater community, Orchesis aims to elevate the awareness and understanding of expressive arts therapy and its benefits. Orchesis is a Greek word meaning "a moving ensemble".
Vision
Orchesis Alliance gives a space for students to connect with one another through shared creative processes. It provides students with professional development and diverse perspectives on the use of expressive arts therapy by connecting with professionals in the community.
Requirements
Orchesis has shifted to a student organization format in order to provide access to more students and create a broader community. In order to become a member of Orchesis you must be a graduate or doctoral student in a helping or mental health related program such as counseling, therapy, or social work. There is no longer a GPA or course requirement for participation.
